Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two men involved in money exchange heist and recovered 35.694 million local and foreign currencies from them.
Police said that the robbery occurred at a money exchange in Deans Trade Centre, Peshawar.
The special team, formed on the special instructions of CCPO Peshawar, with the help of important evidence and CCTV footage, worked tirelessly day and night on modern scientific lines to track down the persons involved in the robbery.
The arrested persons have been identified as Nader Khan, who was a security guard at the money exchange office and Ahmed Gul.
According to the details, the owner of the money exchange, Muhammad Haris Nadeem Siddiqui, had reported the theft of local and foreign currencies from the money exchange to the West Police Station on January 4.
CCPO Peshawar Qasim Ali Khan took strict notice and a special team was formed under the supervision of SSP Operations and SSP Investigation Noor Jamal to trace and arrest the accused involved.
The special team, comprising SP Cantt Division Aitzaz Arif, DSP Investigation Akhtar Naseer Khan, DSP Cantt Circle Arbab Naeem Haider, SHO West Police Station Noor Muhammad Khan and Investigation Officer Inam Khan, collected important evidence and launched a comprehensive investigation on various aspects on modern scientific lines and technical grounds.
CCTV footage was also obtained, with the help of which several suspicious and suspected persons were interrogated and their statements were recorded.
During the operation, two persons were arrested and a total of 35.694 million local and foreign currencies were recovered from them.
