ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has challenged PECA amendment act 2025 in Islamabad High Court (IHC). PFUJ President Afzal Butt filed petition through Imran Shafiq advocate making federal government respondent. The petition said PECA act is attack on freedom of press. PECA amendment act is unconstitutional and illegal. Judicial review be made. PECA law is curb imposed on freedom of expression and augmentation in government control. PECA act 2025 which is against freedom of press be suspended. PECA act 2025 runs contrary to article 19 and 19-A of the constitution. PECA amendment act gives limitless powers to government censorship . Declaring fake news offence without legal process is unconstitutional and a curb on freedom of press. PECA amendment act is violation of international human rights. PECA amendment act is worst defiance of digital rights. Regulatory Authority under PECA enjoys no constitutional status. ONLINE
