42.85% land settlement completes in Landi Kotal

Approximately 42.85% land settlement has been completed in ongoing process in tehsil Landi Kotal, Geographical Information System (GIS) and Revenue staff informed.
It is worth mentioning that after abolishment of century old Frontier Crime Regulation in 2018, like extension of other laws, land settlement process has been also extend to merged tribal region and for the purpose 15 members of GIS and 21 staff of revenue team has been assigned the duty of land settlement in tehsil Landi Kotal who are executing their duties for the last three years in the area.
Sharing details officials of GIS and Revenue teams said that the total measurement of tehsil Landi Kotal is 1480740 kanal and the area has been divided into four patwar circles i.e. Neiki Khel, Khuga Khel, Shiekhmal Khel, and Zakha Khel circles.
Land settlement has been completed in Shiekwal and Chengi Khel areas of Neiki Khel while the process is in progress in Wali Khel, Sadu Khel and Sultan Khel (except Mazrina locality due to security threats).
The process has not been begun in Neiki Khel locality due to non-cooperation of residents.
They further added that in the circle, land settlement of Mukhtar Khel and Karigar has been completed and verification of Alam Khani and Ghani Khel is in progress.
In the same way, the practice has been initiated in Mirdad Khel and Pased Khel.
Re-settlement has not been started in the Khuga Khel area because of the unavailability of actual records, compiled in 1918.
The GIS officials informed that to conduct new settlement, a number of steps have to be carried out including roughly village boundary, family tree, measurement date compilation, katuni tehrer, masavi preparation, field book, verification etc.
Counting advantages of the land settlement Tehsildar Riazul Haq and his colleagues said that through the process, a proper computerized record of land will be formulated, one can gets avail ownership documents of his, her property, local land dispute will be resolved, property will be safe, value of property in the area will be increased, one can produce his property as bond in Court or for loan etc., convenience in hereditary sharing etc.
It is to be stated that like other parts of merged tribal districts, tehsil Landi Kotal lacked land revenue record that multiplied problems of the locals and the administrators to resolve it, official said.
