Hamza Foundation Welfare Thalassemia Hospital Peshawar has registered 1510 patients, with the number continuing to rise. Founder Chairman Ijaz Ali Khan emphasizes that implementing a thalassemia test before marriage can prevent this disease.
In addition to thalassemia, patients suffering from hemophilia, blood cancer, and other blood diseases are registered with the hospital, receiving safe blood transfusions through advanced machinery since 2006.
Ijaz Ali Khan stresses that thalassemia screening before marriage is crucial, as healthy individuals can be thalassemia carriers. This hereditary blood disease is transmitted from carrier parents to children, condemning them to a lifetime of painful monthly blood transfusions.
The majority of thalassemia patients come from impoverished backgrounds. Khan appeals to philanthropists, businessmen, and individuals from all walks of life to support Hamza Foundation in its mission to provide relief to these innocent children, enabling them to live without the burden of this debilitating disease.
