The construction work on functionalization of the holding center near Hamza Baba complex, Landi Kotal has been initiated for repatriation of Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders.
The Federal Government had earlier set 31st March, 2025, as a deadline for voluntary repatriations of ACC holders, residing in parts of Pakistan.
Work on refunctionalise of the holding center in said locality is in full swing and an official of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) said that so far two counters had been established to facilitate the returning ACC holders.
Prior to it, this center had been set up for the return of undocumented Afghan nationals after October 31st 2023.
After repatriation of Illegal foreigners, the statistic shared Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) Home and Tribal Affairs department say as many as 469,879 Afghan citizens have entered Afghanistan through Torkham, Angoor Adda, Kharlachi and Sost bordering points.
The Federal Government had earlier stated several times that 880,000 ACC holders are currently residing across Pakistan and most of them is said to be living in KP.
It is to be mentioned here that as per UNHCR official 1.3 million Afghan refugees who are carrying Proof of Registration (PoR) cards are also residing in Pakistan
