Jamaat-e-Islami provincial chief Abdul Wasi said that the situation of extortion, target killing, kidnapping for ransom and murder is very serious in the province. “Against worst conditions of the province, Jamaat-e-Islami will hold a full-scale peace march in Peshawar on April 20, in which central chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and other leaders will participate.
Addressing a press conference at the Mardan Press Club along with district Ameer Ghulam Rasool, Saeed Akhtar Advocate, Ibrahim Buland, Manzoor-ul-Haq and Jahanzeb Khan, the provincial chief said that in the new sad wave of terrorism in the province, madrassas, scholars and ordinary citizens are being targeted. Instead of firing bullets at our own people, terrorism should be uprooted. He added that voices were raised in the provincial assembly over the killing of civilians in Babuzai Hill in Katlang area, but ministers appeared helpless and despite having the authority, they are also making demands.
He said that the use of force against our own innocent people and disrespect of honorable citizens on their doorsteps is widening the gap between the people and the security agencies. He added that the people of the areas affected by the operation should be provided relief and the promises made to them should be fulfilled.
He said that the silence of the Muslim Ummah on the martyrdom of children and civilians in Gaza due to Israeli bombing is regrettable. He added that the OIC should play a role in the ceasefire by calling an immediate meeting, while the government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army should also take effective steps.
Abdul Wasi said that despite the cheapest electricity being generated in the province, expensive electricity is being provided to the people. The center is indebted to the province in terms of electricity and it should be paid immediately. He claimed that the recent reduction in electricity prices is the result of Jamaat-e-Islami struggle.
He demanded that the government should reduce the electricity prices further. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue its vigorous struggle for lasting peace in the province.
He appealed to the people and workers to participate in the Peshawar Haji Camp March on April 20 and said that Jamaat-e-Islami will play a full role in establishing peace and harmony in the province.
