The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has established a provincial working group aimed at the protection, promotion, and implementation of human rights in the province. The announcement was made through a notification issued by the Law, Parliamentary Affairs, and Human Rights Department.
The newly formed group will be chaired by the Chief Secretary of KP, with key members including the Additional Chief Secretary for Home and Tribal Affairs, the Director General of Law and Human Rights, and the Secretaries of the Law, Labor, Elementary Education, Social Welfare, Environment, and Industries Departments. The Director General of Law and Human Rights has been appointed as the Member-cum-Secretary of the group.
The working group’s primary objectives include fostering better coordination among stakeholders at the provincial level, ensuring the implementation of Pakistan’s human rights commitments, and advancing national and provincial action plans for human rights.
Additionally, the group will focus on promoting policy, legal, and administrative measures, reviewing the provincial human rights situation, and making recommendations for policy and legal reforms aimed at enhancing the protection of human rights.
