The first Inter-District Women’s Sports Festival began in a colorful ceremony at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, Charsadda. The special guest of the ceremony was Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Zia-ul-Haq, who officially inaugurated the event by cutting the ribbon.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Qaiser Khan, Additional DG Sports Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, Director Development Azizullah Jan, RSO Kashif Farhan, DSO Charsadda Miss Gul Rukh, DSO Peshawar Mashal Malik, and DSOs from other districts were present.
In the opening ceremony, local school girls presented a wonderful performance on band, PT show and tableau and received great appreciation.
The first Inter-District Women’s Sports Festival organized by District Sports Office Charsadda was attended by students from Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera and Charsadda. Players will compete in athletics, tug-of-war, hockey, volleyball, table tennis and badminton.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the special guest, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Zia-ul-Haq, said that all sports facilities are available in the Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, which is a great opportunity to benefit from.
He said that steps will be taken to promote sports in collaboration with secondary and higher education. Sports not only teach us to move forward, but also teach us patience and tolerance. He said that it is hoped that the girls of our province can play their role in making the country and nation famous.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Charsadda, while addressing the gathering, said that the purpose of organizing a festival specifically for women is to provide sports opportunities to women so that the girls of our province can showcase their talent and further enhance their performance. Later, the Secretary Sports visited various venues of the Sports Complex and reviewed the sports facilities.
