LAHORE: The contempt of court plea in connection with interviews of detained accused and circulation of video of Kasur dance party on social media came up for hearing before Lahore High Court (LHC). Justice Ali Zia Bajwa while ending the contempt of court proceedings against anchor Hammad Aslam and Tehmina Sheikh directed them to remain careful in future. The court sought report from PTA regarding suo motu powers for removing material from digital media. The court while seeking reply from federal government on removing material sought arguments on May 13. During the hearing of Vishal Ahmad Shakir petition the court directed to make reply of Hammad Aslam and Tehmina Sheikh part of file. The court ordered the person behind making the video of Kasur dance party accused viral to file written apology. The court remarked contempt of court proceedings is being ended due to constitution of high powered committee by Chief Minister Punjab in connection with Kasur incident. The court remarked social media rules framed by PEMRA are completely joke. “ first open the office of social media companies. You wrote in social media rules when social lines and social media rules clash then rules will dominate. How will social media rules of PEMRA dominate on twitter guidelines. How will you get expunge the material from twitter. Counsel for PEMRA took the plea when complaint comes to PEMRA then PEMRA will initiate action onward to get remove this material. If controversial material falls under PECA act then it will be got removed under social media rules. Online
