KP CS stresses governance reforms to enhance public services

A high-level weekly review meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah, was held to assess the progress of ongoing development projects across the province.
According to an official handout, the meeting focused on preparing a comprehensive governance roadmap aimed at improving public service delivery through performance monitoring and institutional reforms.
Under the proposed roadmap, priorities for each government department and sector will be identified, followed by the development of specific action plans.
The Chief Secretary will personally oversee departmental performance to ensure long-term and sustainable improvements in governance.
The meeting was attended by administrative secretaries and senior officials of relevant departments. A key focus of the session was the master planning of tourist destinations across the province, with the goal of promoting sustainable tourism, preserving natural and cultural heritage, and boosting local economies.
The Chief Secretary was briefed on the construction of a 42.3-kilometre road connecting the Indus Highway (N-55) with the Hakla–DI Khan Motorway via Kulwar.
Updates were also presented on the Thandiani Tourism Project, Gunhole and Mankyal Integrated Tourism Zones, Swat Motorway Phase II, and the Peshawar–DI Khan Motorway.
CS-KP stated that the provincial government aims to strengthen the Performance Management and Reforms Unit (PMRU) to enhance efficiency and service delivery. So far, 215 tenders and 74 procurement plans have been uploaded to the e-Pak Acquisition and Disposal System (EPADS), promoting transparency in public procurement.
Shahab Ali Shah also emphasized the vital role of the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) in the city’s urban development.
He noted that the PDA was being modernized with advanced digital tools and resources to better achieve urban planning and development objectives.
