JI Amir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has said JI will extend full support to journalists organizations in their struggle against PECA act.
“it is necessary to overcome fake news. But the rulers should not take forward their nefarious designs in the guise of PECA act. Freedom of expression be ensured. JI will extend full- fledged support to journalistic organizations in their struggle against PECA act, Hafiz Naeem said this during a meeting with CPNE delegation led Kazim Khan here Friday.
CPNE delegation included Ghulam Nabi Chandio secretary general, Ayyaz Khan senior vice president, Tanvir Shaukat Deputy secretary, Arshad Arif, chairman media free committee, Ejaz ul Haq former secretary general and Waqas Tariq joint secretary Punjab.
JI secretary general Amir ul Azeem and information secretary Shakeel Ahmad Turabi were also present in the meeting.
Hafiz Naeem said at present time when spirit and consensus prevail in the nation, PECA act like steps will foment disunity and embarrassment in the nation.
JI Amir demanded of the government to withdraw PECA act forthwith and legislate with consensus after broad consultation .
Whatever activity is undertaken by journalists with reference to PECA act JI will participate in it, JI Amir said.
Pakistani media pursued professionalism during war between Pakistan and India and it emerged as responsible media. Contrary to it Indian media brought bad name to India through irresponsible and false coverage.
Kazim Khan and delegation members said that campaign was run against Pakistani media before war that it publishes news against the national security. but after war government and army spokesperson acknowledged that Pakistani media has demonstrated utmost responsibility.
DGISPR has also thanked Pakistani media.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said payment of salary to media men be ensured in time.
President CPNE, Kazim Khan while agreeing to it said CPNE will include this matter in its agenda. Complete implementation in this regard will take place on the payment of outstanding dues from government.
