Curriculum committee holds first meeting in Peshawar
PESHAWAR
In a significant move to incorporate environmental education into the academic framework, the first meeting of the Curriculum Committee formed under the directives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Environmental Protection Council (EPC) was held here on Saturday.
The meeting was chaired by Samiullah Khan, Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and attended by committee members representing various educational and environmental sectors.
According to an official statement, the committee aims to integrate environmental subjects into the curriculum from elementary to university level.
To advance this initiative, the committee formed two sub-committees with specific mandates: one to review the existing curriculum and assess opportunities for integrating environmental themes, and another to develop proposals for introducing dedicated environmental subjects tailored to each stage of education.
The committee also emphasized the need for thorough verification and collaborative consultation before proceeding to implementation.
Director General Samiullah Khan stressed the importance of introducing environmental education at an early age, stating that sustainable development hinges on fostering environmental consciousness among the youth.
He called for a united effort to equip future generations with the knowledge and skills necessary to confront environmental challenges.
