SC directs AAG to file arguments in writing in super tax case

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has directed Additional Attorney General (AAG) to file arguments in writing in super tax case. A five members SC constitutional bench presided over by Justice Amin ud Din Khan took up super tax case for hearing Monday. The counsels for FBR completed their arguments on section 4-B of income tax ordinance. Makhdoom Ali Khan counsel for companies will start reply to reply arguments Thursday. Justice Amin Ud Din Khan inquired from Makhdoom Ali Khan will he want to give reply to reply on 4-B. Makhdoom Ali Khan said he will give reply to reply after reading the arguments of the lawyers. AAG Amir Rehman said he wants to bring in the knowledge of the court with reference to 4-B. It is there in all the four decisions additional tax can be levied for any special purpose. Justice Amin Ud Din Khan directed AAG to file arg ments in writing. The hearing of the case was adjourned till May 22. Online
