In a significant breakthrough, police have successfully apprehended the ringleader of a gang that allegedly looted Rs 2.13 million from a ghee trader in the Pishtakhara area of the provincial capital.
Under the supervision of SP Cantt Division Aitzaz Arif, a special police team comprising DSP Pushtkhara Circle Muhammad Ashfaq Khan, SHO Pishtkhara Police Station Tahseenullah, and the investigation staff traced the gang involved in the robbery incident near Bilal Masjid on Canal Road.
The arrested suspect, Fazal Karim, son of Hazrat Nabi, originally from Afghanistan and residing in Pishtakhara, was working as a clerk in the trader’s warehouse. During the investigation, it was revealed that he conspired with his accomplices to rob his employer and escape with the cash.
The case came to light after the complainant, Asadullah son of Khan Wali, a ghee trader, reported to Pishtakhara Police Station that motorcycle-riding robbers had snatched Rs 2.13 million from him near Bilal Masjid.
Police reviewed CCTV footage from various locations and cross-referenced statements and background checks of warehouse staff and known offenders.
