KP reaffirms commitment to disability rights at consultative session

Ghulam Ali, Director General Law & Human Rights,Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, attended a high-level consultative session on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), organized by the Ministry of Human Rights, Government of Pakistan, at Serena Hotel, Peshawar.
The session was attended by representatives from almost all departments of the KP Government, reflecting a strong inter-departmental commitment to disability rights and inclusive governance.
Ghulam Ali delivered the welcome address on behalf of Akhtar Saeed Turk, Secretary Law, Parliamentary Affairs & Human Rights Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In his address, he extended gratitude to the Ministry of Human Rights for organizing this important consultation and reiterated the Government’s resolve to uphold the rights of persons with disabilities in line with international commitments.
The DG Law & HR also delivered a detailed presentation on CRPD, highlighting: The timely submission of KP’s response to the matrix shared by the Ministry, despite its complexity; The completion of the gap analysis report, which has already been shared with the Law Department for onward submission to the Ministry; The mobilisation of a dedicated and professionally trained team in the Treaty Implementation Cell (TIC), working actively under the Directorate; The Ministry of Human Rights appreciated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s proactive engagement and the timely submission of required inputs under the CRPD framework.
