Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Forests, Environment, Wildlife and Climate Change, Pir Musawar Khan, visited Malakand on Thursday to inspect the ongoing operation to control the forest fire in the Kot Hazar Nau mountain range.
During the visit, he met with officials from the Forest Department, Rescue 1122, district administration, and local volunteers engaged in firefighting efforts.
He lauded their dedication and hard work in conserving the region’s forests under challenging conditions.
Chief Conservator of Forests Malakand Region III Asghar Khan, Conservator Abid Mumtaz, and other senior officials were also present.
The officials briefed the Special Assistant, informing him that the fire—made difficult to control due to steep terrain, intense heat, and strong winds—had largely been brought under control.
Pir Musawar Khan emphasized that forest protection remained a top priority under the leadership of the Chief Minister.
He assured that all available resources were being utilized and instructed concerned authorities to remain on-site until the fire was completely extinguished.
He also urged the public to actively support forest conservation efforts, stressing that forests are vital for future generations, serve as habitats for wildlife, and play a crucial role in environmental protection.
