In preparation for the 9th Muharram, CCPO Peshawar Qasim Ali Khan visited the cantonment and city areas to oversee the security arrangements. Accompanied by senior officers, including SSP Operations Masood Ahmed, SP City Atiq Shah Khan, and SP Cantt Aitzaz Arif, the CCPO was briefed on the extensive security measures being implemented across the district.
Speaking to the reporters, the concerned police officials assured that foolproof security plans have been set in place to ensure public safety throughout the district.
In line with the security strategy, all major internal and external routes of the district are under continuous surveillance. Special checkpoints have been established at key locations across the city, and both CCTV and drone cameras are being used to monitor activities from the central control center.
To ensure safety during the mourning processions, special contingents, along with jammers, have been stationed at both the front and rear of the processions. Additionally, Bomb Disposal Units (BDUs) and sniffer dogs are actively checking the routes, reinforcing the security effort.
The police force has also ramped up patrols, deploying armored vehicles at critical points in the city to further enhance security. These measures are part of the ongoing effort to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incidents during the observance of Muharram.
CCPO Qasim Ali Khan assured the public that all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure the security of mourners and citizens alike during the religious observances.
