Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Science, Technology and Information Technology, Dr. Shafqat Ayaz, has said that the tragedy of Karbala remains an eternal symbol of truth, sacrifice, and steadfastness, urging people to always raise their voices against oppression.
In a statement issued in connection with Muharram-ul-Haram, Dr. Ayaz said that Imam Hussain (AS) stood firmly for truth in the face of tyranny, preferring martyrdom over submission. “Karbala teaches us that heads may be severed for standing by the truth, but one should never bow to falsehood,” he said.
He noted that while the people of Kufa recognized Imam Hussain (AS) as being on the right path, their silence and inaction due to fear led to deep regret. “The lesson of Karbala is to support justice and truth at the right time instead of repenting later,” he added.
Dr. Ayaz emphasized that although the path of truth is difficult, Karbala proves that such a path leads to ultimate success. “Those who walk this path are never alone—Allah supports them,” he stated.
He called upon citizens to uphold the values of patience, unity, brotherhood, and tolerance during Muharram, and to reject sectarianism and hatred. “This is the true message of Karbala, and it is the responsibility of every individual to spread it,” he added.
