The Regional Cricket Association Karachi Zone One held the closing ceremony of the Asif Mahmood Memorial Junior Inter-Club Cricket Tournament, where SMS Gymkhana emerged as the champions. The final, played at Eidgah Ground, saw a dominant performance by SMS Gymkhana, who defeated Abu Rehan Cricket Club by a convincing 174 runs.The event, held in memory of former first-class cricketer Asif Mahmood, was attended by Khalid Nafees, the Chief guest and chairman of the Tournament Committee RCAK, who praised the unforgettable services of the late cricketer and his family for promoting cricket in the region. Arif Waheed, Secretary of Zone One, also paid tribute to Asif Mahmood, emphasizing the importance of remembering those
who have contributed to Karachi’s cricketing landscape.In the final match, SMS Gymkhana, batting first, posted a strong total of 302 runs before being bowled out in 38.4 overs. Saad Alam and Akbar Babar were the top scorers with 81 and 80 runs, Muhammad Ali took 4 for 38.
Abu Rehan Cricket Club struggled in their chase and were all out for just 128 runs in 25.2 Muhammad Ali scored 36 and Dr Sameer 21.Akbar Babar was the star for SMS Gymkhana with the ball, taking four wickets for just 13 runs, earning his team the tournament title.
On this occasion, Coordinator RCAK Azam Khan, President Zone One Ajmal Naseeb, President Zone Vll Mazhar Awan, Secretary Zone Two Nusratullah, Wisal Ansari, Tahir Mehmood, Dr. Arif Hafeez, Javed Ali, Ayaz Munshi and others were also present.
At the end of the match, the Chief guest Khalid Nafees along with Azam Khan distributed prizes among the players. The umpiring duties were performed by Bashir Abbasi and Zahid Iqbal, while the official scorer was Shoaib Nasir.
