Pakistan, Azerbaijan agree to enhance cooperation in justice sector

A high-level delegation from the Republic of Azerbaijan, led by Justice Minister, Farid Ahmadov, called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan at the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday and discussed matters relating to judicial cooperation, institutional reforms and strengthening bilateral collaboration in the justice sector.
The Azerbaijani delegation included Director General International Cooperation, Ministry of Justice, Adil Abilov and First Secretary, Embassy of Azerbaijan in Islamabad, Samir Ahmedali.
Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including the rule of law, judicial education, digital transformation of courts, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and the sharing of best practices in judicial administration.
The Chief Justice briefed the delegation on ongoing reform initiatives in Pakistan’s justice sector, particularly efforts aimed at technology integration, judicial capacity building, legal empowerment and improving service delivery within courts.
Azerbaijan’s Justice Minister Farid Ahmadov appreciated the role of Pakistan’s judiciary in upholding the rule of law and expressed interest in expanding cooperation between the two countries in judicial training, legal research and institutional development.
The visiting delegation also acknowledged Pakistan’s support for strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a reaffirmation of commitment by both sides to further deepen cooperation in the field of law and justice through structured engagement, exchange programmes and institutional partnerships.
