Monsoon death toll climbs to 365 in KP

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has reported heavy loss of life and property across several districts due to ongoing rains and flash floods.
According to the latest PDMA report, 365 people have lost their lives and 181 others have been injured in various rain- and flood-related incidents. The deceased include 294 men, 41 women, and 30 children, while the injured comprise 144 men, 27 women, and 10 children.
The authority further stated that 782 houses have been damaged so far, of which 433 were partially destroyed and 349 completely demolished. Buner district has been identified as the worst affected, where 225 people have died.
Other districts hit by the calamity include Swat, Bajaur, Mansehra, Shangla, Lower Dir, Battagram, and Swabi.
The PDMA has warned of more heavy rains from August 17 to 19, with the current spell likely to continue intermittently until August 21. Authorities in the affected districts have been directed to intensify relief efforts and ensure immediate assistance to victims.
