PESHAWAR: Owing to recent natural disasters, authorities have recommended declaring 80 union councils across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as disaster-hit. According to initial survey reports on Monday, the most severely affected district is Buner, where livelihoods and housing have been badly damaged. Several villages in the district have witnessed widespread destruction, leaving residents struggling for survival. In addition to Buner, Swat, Bajaur, Shangla, and Lower Dir have also been included in the list of affected areas. Official sources revealed that the provincial government has decided not to declare entire districts as disaster-hit; instead, only those union councils directly impacted by the calamity will be included. Recommendations have been finalized and will be presented to the provincial cabinet for approval, after which the areas will be officially notified as disaster-hit. It is noteworthy that in these area, people’s sources of income have almost completely collapsed and urgent relief measures are required to support the affected population. APP
