The Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has strongly condemned the provincial government’s decision to hand over public educational institutions and government hospitals to the private sector, calling it a shameful and deeply concerning move.
In a statement, ANP provincial spokesperson Arsalan Khan Nazim criticized the government’s actions, saying, “These are the same rulers who once promised to demolish the walls of the Chief Minister and Governor Houses to build universities. Today, their performance is limited to selling buffaloes from the Prime Minister’s House.”
He said the journey that began with symbolic sales has now reached the alarming stage of auctioning the province’s assets. “The province is facing financial collapse, universities are crippled by funding shortages, the health sector is deteriorating rapidly, and educational terrorism is at its peak,” Nazim stated.
He further alleged that instead of building new schools, colleges, or universities, the current government is attempting to sell off land and institutions established during the ANP’s tenure. “It is a tragic irony that even government hospitals and schools are being handed over to private hands. This reveals a mindset that wouldn’t hesitate to sell off household appliances if given the chance,” he remarked.
The ANP spokesperson vowed that the party would not remain silent. “We strongly oppose this disastrous decision and will challenge it on every available forum after consulting our legal team. We will not allow the future of our children and generations to be compromised,” he declared.
Nazim also urged the people of KP to take stock of the damage inflicted on the province over the last 12 years by what he termed as an “incompetent ruling clique.”
