Rs10b defamation case against Imran Khan
LAHORE: Local court of Lahore has summoned Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on September 12 for cross examination on video link in Rs 10 billion defamation case by him against PTI founder. The court has directed the counsels of the respondents to appear on next hearing. Additional Sessions Judge took up PM petition for hearing on Monday. The court summoned PM on September for cross examination on video link. No progress could be made in the case during hearing due to non availability of counsel for Imran Khan. Additional Sessions Judge Yalmaz Ghee remarked that the counsels of the respondents should appear in the court at 10 a.m on next hearing. It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan had alleged in April 2017 that Shehbaz Sharif had made offer of Rs 10 billion to him for remaining silent and withdrawing from his stance in the matter of Panama Leaks. The then Chief Minister ( CM) Punjab Shehbaz Sharif had filed Rs 10 billion damage suit against Imran Khan on the allegation of offer of Rs 10 billion in July 2017. Later Shehbaz Sharif had filed miscellaneous petition in June 2020 through his counsel Mustafa Ramday for early hearing of his defamation case . Shehbaz Sharif had taken the plea through the petition that defamation case is pending hearing since 3 years. The court was requested to accept plea for early and day to day basis hearing of defamation case. Online
