Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Palwasha Khan has said that Punjab is not the personal fiefdom of any individual or political party, stressing that the province belongs to Pakistan and its people.
In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, Palwasha Khan criticized the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership for what she called its “possessive attitude” toward Punjab. She said that the PML-N often behaves as if Punjab is its inherited property, ignoring the fact that the province is an integral part of the federation and must serve the interests of all Pakistanis, not just a single political family.
“Punjab is the heart of Pakistan, not the personal estate of any ruler,” she remarked. “It is home to millions of hardworking Pakistanis whose loyalty is to the country, not to any dynasty or political clan.” Palwasha Khan further said that the PPP has always fought for equal rights and representation of all provinces, including Punjab.
She criticized the PML-N government in the province for failing to deliver on promises of good governance and development, adding that the people of Punjab are now demanding a change. She also emphasized that the PPP is committed to bringing true democratic values and inclusive development to every part of the country.
“The time has come to end the politics of arrogance and exclusion. Punjab’s progress should mean Pakistan’s progress,” she said. Political observers see Palwasha Khan’s remarks as part of PPP’s renewed efforts to strengthen its presence in Punjab ahead of the next elections, signaling a more aggressive stance against PML-N’s dominance in the province.
