A significant step has been taken for the promotion of women’s kabaddi and the identification of new talent at the grassroots level in Peshawar. Under the supervision of the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation and organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Kabaddi Association, it has been decided to establish an Asian-style Women’s Kabaddi Academy at Government City Girls Degree College Gulbahar, Peshawar.
The formal inauguration ceremony of the academy will be jointly conducted by Pakistan Kabaddi Federation Secretary General Rana Muhammad Sarwar and College Principal Professor Rabia Sikandar.
The decision was made during a meeting between Provincial Kabaddi Association Secretary General Syed Sultan Bari and Professor Rabia Sikandar, which was also attended by College Director of Sports Najma Naz Qazi. The meeting included detailed discussions on the promotion of women’s kabaddi and the practical framework for establishing the academy.
On the occasion, Syed Sultan Bari presented a commemorative shield from the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation to Professor Rabia Sikandar, appreciating her interest and cooperation in promoting sports at the educational level.
He said that the establishment of the Women’s Kabaddi Academy will provide a strong platform for talented female players not only from Peshawar but across the province.
Professor Rabia Sikandar expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the Kabaddi Federation and said that several initiatives have already been taken in the college to promote kabaddi. She added that the new academy will further strengthen this sport by providing professional training and competitive opportunities for female athletes, helping them to emerge as future stars capable of representing the province and the country at national and international levels.
Syed Sultan Bari further stated that the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation’s leadership is committed to the development of women’s kabaddi, and this academy will serve as a vital step in that direction.
