Islamabad: Veteran PTV and Radio Pakistan newscaster Ishrat Fatima has dismissed recent rumors about her death that circulated widely on social media, assuring fans that she is alive and well. Ishrat Fatima, who became a household name across Pakistan for her signature 9:00 p.m. news bulletin on Pakistan Television, has served the national media for nearly three decades. Currently associated with Radio Pakistan, she lives in Islamabad with her husband and family. Speaking to media, the senior broadcaster said she was shocked when she first heard the false news. “I was coming home from Radio Pakistan when my colleague Tauseeq Haider called and asked about the reports circulating online. At first, I feared it might be something inappropriate, but then he told me it was about my death,” she recounted. “For me, respect is everything. The name I’ve earned is my greatest achievement. News about death doesn’t scare me; I await Allah’s call. I only pray for a peaceful death and hope to perform Hajj in my lifetime for my late father, along with my husband, Saqib Sahib,” she added.
