PM directs NDMA to ensure maximum relief for flood-affected people

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Saturday, directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to utilize all available resources to provide maximum assistance and relief to the people affected by floods across the country.
The prime minister issued these directives during a meeting with NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, who briefed him on the prevailing weather situation in the country, particularly the flood situation arising from monsoon rains, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
The prime minister also directed the NDMA to maintain effective coordination with the relevant provincial authorities and Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs).
He also appreciated the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and modern technology at the National Emergencies Operations Centre.
The NDMA chairman briefed the prime minister on the weather and flood situation with regard to monsoon season.
He also apprised him on the ongoing relief operations in flood-affected areas and measures being taken for the rehabilitation of affected people.
He said that, with the cooperation of the federal government, the NDMA would continue relief operations in flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
