Secy information highlights role of information dept in public awareness

Secretary Information and Public Relations Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Mohammad Bakhtiar Khan has said that the Department of Information and Public Relations serves as a vital communication bridge between the government and the public. The performance of information officers holds key importance in ensuring good governance, enhancing public awareness and effectively promoting government initiatives.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of information officers held at the Itlaa Cell, Civil Secretariat, Peshawar, on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Director Administration Ibni Amin, Station Director Pakhtunkhwa Radio Peshawar Haroon Daudzai, Deputy Directors Nisar Khan and Habibullah Mehsud, along with Public Relations Officers.
Dr. Bakhtiar Khan said that a new project is being launched in the department under which effective monitoring of all types of media publicity will be made possible.
Appreciating the Communication Section’s performance in print media monitoring, he noted that it helps in obtaining accurate statistical data regarding newspaper coverage from different perspectives.
He further informed that the new Advertisement Policy has included digital media as well, ensuring that modern media platforms are effectively utilized for government publicity and public information.
Dr. Bakhtiar Khan urged Public Relations Officers to focus on creative and result-oriented work in their respective departments so that the government’s message can reach the public in a more effective manner.
During the meeting, Information Officers also briefed the Secretary about their issues and challenges, upon which he assured full cooperation and resolution of their concerns.
The Secretary directed the officers to further improve their performance following the formation of the new provincial cabinet and emphasized that the Department of Information will continue to play a prominent role in projecting the government Initiatives.
