As political tensions rise in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, a no-confidence motion is reportedly being prepared against AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq.
In anticipation of the move, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has officially nominated senior leader Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin as its candidate for the prime minister’s slot.
According to reliable sources, the decision came after extensive internal consultations within the PPP’s central and regional leadership. A special meeting was held at Zardari House in Islamabad, chaired by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, where the final announcement regarding Yasin’s nomination was made.
Party insiders revealed that four key names were initially under serious consideration for the top post — Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, Faisal Rathore, and Sardar Yaqub Khan. However, following a detailed discussion on political strategy and party unity, the leadership unanimously backed Yasin, who currently serves as the President of PPP’s AJK chapter.
The move signals PPP’s intent to strengthen its position in the AJK Legislative Assembly and potentially realign alliances ahead of the crucial confidence vote. Political observers say the coming days will be decisive for both the ruling coalition and the opposition, as backdoor contacts and power negotiations continue in full swing across Muzaffarabad’s political circles.
