PESHAWAR
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) and UN Women to economically empower women in the province through digital inclusion.
The partnership is part of the Digitalization for Women Economic Empowerment project, funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Under the project, a formal cooperation framework has been established between UN Women and KPITB to increase economic opportunities for women in Peshawar, Mardan, and Swabi, leveraging KPITB’s strategy, infrastructure, and provincial digital policies.
The signing ceremony was attended by Secretary Science, Technology and IT Department Amjad Ali Khan, Managing Director KPITB, and other senior officials.
Addressing the occasion, the Secretary highlighted ongoing initiatives under the Digital KP Roadmap 2030 and emphasized that women play a key role in the province’s digital development journey. He assured full government support for women’s digital inclusion.
UN Women Pakistan Country Representative Jamshed Qazi underscored the importance of equal opportunities for women in the digital economy and praised the leadership and cooperation of the KP government and KPITB.
