Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf on Saturday said that the participation of Qura (reciters) from 37 Islamic countries in Pakistan’s first international Qirat competition reflected a strong message of unity, peace and global solidarity. Speaking at the concluding ceremony, the minister said the successful organization of such a spiritual event marked a significant achievement for the government. He announced that the Qirat competition would continue in the coming years, stressing that events of this nature help promote and spread the true message of the Holy Quran.
Sardar Yousuf said the Quran brings peace and comfort to the heart, adding that Pakistan’s creation is spiritually linked to the holy book, as the country came into existence on the 27th of Ramzan—the date on which the Quran was revealed.
For this reason, he noted, the successful holding of the competition carried special significance.
“We should live our lives according to the teachings of the Quran,” he said.The minister said he had restored several positive initiatives that were discontinued by previous governments, originally launched during Nawaz Sharif’s tenure. He added that the government had also revived work on key reforms, including the Salat and congregational prayer system, which is being implemented in consultation with scholars nationwide.
