Supreme Court stays trial of Imaan Mazari

ISLAMABAD
Supreme Court (SC) has ordered to halt trial of advocate Imaan Mazari in controversial tweets case. The petition seeking court’s order for staying trial of Imaan Mazari came up for hearing before a 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Hashim Kakar Thursday. Justice Salahuddin Panhwar and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim were also members of bench. SC ordered trial will remain suspended till the decision of the case by Islamabad High Court (IHC). IHC should decide the case after hearing all the respondents.
It was said in the court’s order it is expected high court will decide the case soon after hearing both of the respondents fully .
During the hearing of the case Justice Hashim Kakar said we are getting the order written. Have you not any objection over it.
Additional Attorney General (AAG) Rana Asad said objection has been raised over maintainability of the petition. Then Ok, it is all right.
Counsel Faisal Siddiqui said I thank to AAG . We can come to him only in this city.
Justice Hashim Kakar replied you have started political talks.
Upon it court room echoed with laughter.
Justice Hashim Kakar said this time you have not recited any couplet.
Counsel Faisal Siddiqui I just now recite the couplet.
He recited couplet:-
“ hum Aah bhi kartay hain to ho jatay hain badnam
Woh qatal bhi kartay han to badnam nahi hotay”
Justice Hashim Kakar said it is old couplet . You had recited it last time. Laughter again echoed in court room on the remarks of judge.
The court issued the decision with mutual consent of both the parties.
Narwegian ambassador too remained in the room during the proceedings of the court.
