ABBOTTABAD
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has accepted major demands of the Grand Health Alliance (GHA) Abbottabad following successful negotiations held on Thursday, leading the Alliance to postpone its planned protest, officials said.
According to a GHA spokesperson, the government agreed to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT), register terrorism charges, and suspend the station house officer (SHO) involved in the Dr. Wardah Mushtaq case.
The administration also assured that remaining demands — including conducting the post mortem at Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital Abbottabad, recovering gold and money linked to the case, and suspending other police officers allegedly involved — would be addressed soon and incorporated into the JIT’s scope.
The GHA said it decided to postpone the protest at the request of Dr. Wardah’s father, family members, and senior civil society figures, but warned that it would resume its campaign with greater intensity if commitments are not fulfilled.
The Alliance expressed gratitude to the doctors’ community, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Doctors Council, Young Nursing Association, Paramedical Association, Class IV Association, media, civil society, and legal fraternity for their support during the province wide movement. It also thanked hospital administrations across the province for standing with them.
