The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet on Friday approved the E-Transfer Policy 2025 for teachers of the elementary and secondary education department, said a handout.
The statement said that the new policy aimed at ensuring merit, transparency and improved service delivery in the transfers of government school teachers.
Provincial minister Sohail Afridi has said the initiative reflects the vision of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and was a major step toward eliminating political interference in transfers and postings.
Speaking to the media, Afridi said the e-transfer system was the “need of the hour,” enabling teachers to focus on their core responsibility of imparting quality education.
He revealed that despite a province-wide ban on transfers, more than 400 recommendations were received, but none were accepted, underscoring the government’s commitment to merit.
Under the new policy, the duration of service in the current school, student–teacher ratio, and annual academic results have been defined as key indicators for transfer decisions. Special weightage has also been allocated for disability, widowhood, separation cases, and spouse postings.
The Chief Minister has directed all provincial departments to introduce similar merit-based transfer systems. He reiterated that health and education remain the government’s top priorities, stressing that improvement in these sectors is essential for the province’s future.
