PESHAWAR: In line with directives to eliminate private jirga systems, Capital City Police Peshawar took action against an illegal jirga held in Sarband area, where parties involved in a dispute had been charged Rs 800,000 as bail. SP Cantt Division Abdullah Ihsan, DSP Pashtkhara Circle Umar Afridi, and SHO Sarband Imran Khan summoned both parties to the police station. The police promptly returned the bail amount, taken by jirga elders, to the parties involved, Malik Noor Khan and Malik Danish. The parties expressed gratitude for resolving the dispute without financial compensation.
