PDMA issues rain advisory for KP

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, forecasting rain with thundershowers and snowfall in mountainous areas across most districts.
According to PDMA, rain and thundershowers are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Kolai Palas, Malakand, Buner, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kurram, Khyber, Bajaur, and Mohmand from December 20 to 22.
The authority maintained that rain is also predicted in Swabi , Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Charsadda, Kohat, Hangu, Orakzai, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, DI Khan, and North and South Waziristan.
PDMA warned that roads in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, and Galiyat may become slippery or closed due to snowfall. There is also a risk of landslides and avalanches in mountainous regions.
Authorities have been instructed to ensure that drainage systems remain clear and to secure billboards. Continuous monitoring of rivers, streams, and rain drains has also been directed.
Tourists and travelers are urged to carry sufficient water, food, medicines, and warm clothing during the snowfall. The public is advised to stay away from electric poles, billboards, and weak structures during strong winds or thunderstorms.
