Provincial minister for public health engineering Fazal Shakoor Khan on Thursday chaired an important meeting to review progress on mega development projects, a handout said.
Secretary Public Health Engineering, project directors of various mega schemes and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The minister was given a detailed briefing on the progress of key development projects in different districts of the province.
The chair was informed that work is in progress on the gravity-based water supply scheme and rehabilitation of existing infrastructure from Tehsil Matta to Koza Bandai and from Tehsil KhwazaKhela to Charbagh in Swat district.
However, timely release of funds could significantly accelerate the pace of work.
Participants were also briefed on the gravity-based safe drinking water supply project in Havelian, Abbottabad, being implemented with financial support from the Korean Agency for International Cooperation (KOICA). Overall progress of the project was reviewed during the meeting.
The meeting further noted that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Investment and Institutional Support Project comprises various water supply and sanitation schemes in the merged tribal districts, and that the revised PC-I of the project has been submitted to the relevant forums for approval.
While reviewing the Gravity-Based Water Supply Scheme in Mansehra, it was informed that efforts are underway to secure additional financial resources to expedite the project. On this occasion, the provincial minister directed concerned officials to initiate renegotiations for a loan from the Saudi Fund for Development to accelerate work on the Mansehra water supply scheme.
The minister also directed officials to prioritize preparation of PC-I documents for water supply and sanitation schemes in the merged districts and ordered that monthly progress review meetings of all development projects be held to ensure timely completion.
Fazal Shakoor Khan said the provincial government is utilizing all available resources to provide clean drinking water and improve the drainage system across the province, ensuring basic amenities for the people.
