KP Police decide to purchase modern weapons to counter terrorism

PESHAWAR: In order to effectively address the rising threat of terrorism, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police have decided to further strengthen their force by procuring modern weapons and advanced equipment. According to provincial police officials on Sunday, the decision aims at enhancing operational capacity and ensure the safety of police personnel. Under the plan, 50 Beretta sniper rifles and 100 additional sniper rifles will be purchased, while a total of 1,250 modern automatic weapons will be added to the “TWS” force. In addition, rails will be provided to modernize 3,000 small weapons and 3,250 large weapons. To improve counter-terrorism capabilities, the KP Police will acquire 430 thermal binoculars and 330 thermal TI cameras. For strengthening surveillance, 73 surveillance drones will be inducted into the force. To counter drone-related threats, 14 anti-drone guns and four search drones will also be provided. APP
