Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid visited BISP central zonal office here on Friday. She said, “BISP programme is a vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto which gave identity and provided financial protection to millions of deserving women.” She said, “Benazir Bhutto Shaheed is a symbol of bravery and resilience.” She said that services of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for women’s rights were acknowledged all over the world. She said that under this programme, 10 million women were being provided financial assistance across the country.
Social protection wallet had been launched for ensuring transparency in payments, she said and added that free sims were being provided from BISP office.
She said that women should take care of these sims like their purses because all payments in future would be made through these digital wallets.
The chairperson clarified that through the digital wallet system, financial assistance would be transferred directly to the digital wallets of deserving women. This would help overcome hassle of repeated visits to offices or centres and eligible beneficiaries would receive their assistance with ease, she added.
Senator Rubina Khalid stated, “These SIMs are completely free of cost and BISP staff will activate the digital wallets on these SIMs.”
