Pak-Afghan border blockade inflicts 2500 million rupees loss in KP: custom official

So far 2500 million rupees loss has been recorded in export form in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the Pak-Afghan border remained shut on the 85th for pedestrians as well as for trading crossing, custom official informed.
Addressing on the occasion of Pak-Afghan traders gathering, Director Transit Arbab Qaiser said that as per available data, in export 2500 million rupees overall loss has been noted since 12 October, 2025 when the Pak-Afghan border,Torkham,Ghulam Khan, Kherlachi Susut and other crossings in Khyber PakhTunkhwa(KP) were suspended by all kinds of movement.
He maintained that last year when the border was opened for bossiness activities, 14000 Afghan transit containers had been cleared at Karachi port which dropped to 4000 consignments annually due to anti-trade practices at the sharing border.
He maintained that Pakistan transit consignments to Central Asia were four to five thousand yearly.
Meanwhile, the High Court, Peshawar in verdict legalized the 2% Cess tax of the province and directed the authorities concerned to recover 470 billion rupees, unpaid payment from the all national, international companies and individual enterprises, involved in trading on the border.
However the petitioners decided to approach the Supreme Court against it.
It is to be stated here that scores of companies and individuals enterprises, engaged in trade at the border with Afghanistan in KP had filed a petition in the High Court, Peshawar against imposition of Cess tax of the province by utilizing infrastructure of KP.
