Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan (WSSCM) collected 49,537 tons of solid waste from 14 union councils, desilted 653 kilometers of drains, and installed 290 manhole covers at various locations during the year 2025. During the same period, the company achieved a 24 percent increase in revenue, while 4.351 million were deducted from staff due to absenteeism.
A special meeting, chaired by Chairman Board of Directors Engineer Adil Nawaz, was held to review the performance of various sections of the company. Briefing the meeting, Chief Executive Officer Shahid Khan informed that during 2025, 653 kilometers of drains were desilted and remove 8,075 tons of silt. During the year, a total of 49,537 tons of waste were collected from the city, out of which 365 tons were converted into 46 tons of organic compost. In two union councils, 51 tons of waste were collected through door-to-door services and disposed of in a safe manner.
The meeting was informed that citizens lodged 7,335 complaints, out of which 7,305 were resolved. These included 3,128 complaints related to solid waste, 3,119 related to drain desilting, 856 related to water supply, and 222 related to fumigation. The water supply staff provided 787 million gallons of clean drinking water to consumers. Similarly, a reduction of 1.5 million per month was achieved in electricity bills to minimize expenses.
Out of the city’s 159 kilometers of pipeline, 716 meters were replaced, while routine maintenance work is being carried out on a daily basis to ensure the supply of clean and safe drinking water. Under the Annual Development Program (ADP), development works worth 8 million were completed, while projects worth Rs. 17.5 million were carried out under non-ADP schemes.
With the support of the European Union Water Operators’ Partnerships Alliance, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Engineer Adil Nawaz, Chief Executive Officer Shahid Khan, and Senior Manager Imran Zaman represented Pakistan at an international congress held in Germany.
During 2025, Rs. 18.3 million were recovered from consumers, reflecting a 24 percent increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, 233 agreements were signed with various commercial entities for waste collection, generating an annual revenue of Rs. 331,000.
For public awareness, 49 sessions were conducted for students and the community, while 66 programs were organized in different mosques every Friday to promote positive behavioral change among citizens.
