The annual elections of the Shangla Press Club and the Union of Journalists were held on Saturday, with journalists electing their new office-bearers through a transparent and peaceful process.
The elections were conducted under the supervision of Sulaiman Shah Advocate, President of the Shangla District Bar, Waqif Shah Advocate, and a representative of the Shangla Election Commission.
According to the results, Syed Muhammad Shah Khan Sajid was elected president, while Sabir Hussain Shah of Khyber News secured the post of general secretary.
Raza Shah was elected senior vice president, Sardar Ali vice president, Gohar Ali joint secretary, Muhammad Younas finance secretary, Iftikhar Hussain press secretary, and Saleh Shahzad office secretary.
The newly elected office-bearers vowed to work collectively for the protection of journalists’ rights, promotion of professional journalism, and the welfare of the media community in the district.
They also pledged to raise issues faced by journalists and strengthen the role of the press club in Shangla.
