Ahead of expected rain and snowfall in the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from January 21 to 24, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has advised residents to remain cautious and directed local administrations to ensure preparedness for any emergency. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), through its spokesperson on various media channels, has urged residents to cooperate with local administrations and follow all safety advisories during the forecasted rain and snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from January 21 to 24.
People living in low-lying and vulnerable areas have been specifically advised to remain cautious and take necessary preventive measures.
The spokesperson emphasized that timely compliance with official instructions, including evacuation if needed, can help minimize potential risks. Local authorities have been directed to stay vigilant, ensure emergency preparedness and keep communities informed throughout the adverse weather spell. The PDMA has instructed local administrations to remain vigilant, particularly in low-lying and sensitive areas and to take all necessary preventive measures ahead of the forecasted rain and snowfall.
Emergency services, including Rescue 1122 and Civil Defense, have been directed to stay on high alert to respond quickly to any emergency situation. The PDMA warned that rising water levels in the Kabul River and its tributaries could trigger flash floods, particularly in Swat, Chitral, Dir, Buner and Shangla, and has issued alerts to the concerned district administrations.
