KP launches quality education standards with UNICEF support

The provincial minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Arshad Ayub Khan on Thursday formally inaugurated the project titled “Standards for Quality Education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” at the Directorate of Curriculum and Teacher Education (DCTE), Abbottabad.
On the occasion, Director DCTE, Mr. Jaffar Mansoor Abbasi, gave a detailed briefing to the Provincial Minister on the objectives, scope, and expected outcomes of the project.
Additional Director Mr. Ashfaq Jadoon, UNICEF Education Specialist Mr. Syed Fawad Shah, District Education Officers (Male and Female), college professors, and DCTE staff were also present at the ceremony.
While appreciating the initiative, Minister Arshad Ayub Khan stated that the Standards for Quality Education would prove to be a milestone in improving the quality of education across the province.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department to formulate a comprehensive policy to ensure uniform implementation of these standards throughout the province.
He also acknowledged and appreciated UNICEF’s role and support in the development of these standards.
The Minister emphasized that the provincial government is giving top priority to providing quality education to children and is preparing students to meet future challenges through modern educational trends and information technology, enabling them to become successful individuals and contribute effectively to societal development.
He further stated that the government is taking practical steps to provide teachers with a conducive and pleasant learning environment to achieve the broader objective of quality education. He added that the recruitment of 26,000 new teachers is underway to ensure the delivery of improved educational services and to equip students with education aligned with contemporary requirements through integrated efforts and modern teaching methodologies.
