Ministry of climate informs IHC
ISLAMABAD, FEB 11 (ONLINE): It has been said in the reply filed by ministry of climate change in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on trees cutting that tree cutting was limited to only paper mulberry.
Ministry of climate change declared the tree chopping in order describing paper mulberry is non local tree.
It has been said in the reply the review revealed that the chopping was limited to paper mulberry. Kachnar, Sumbal, Cheer, Sukh chain and other kinds of trees were kept preserved after marking. CDA carried out tree planting at alternative places after tree chopping. Advance approval is must for tree chopping.
Islamabad Wild Life Management Board conducted field inspection of Shakarparian. CDA is bound to seek permission from Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency for cutting trees. Consultation with Islamabad Wild life management board is essential for tree cutting. When the matter of tree cutting came into knowledge then reservations and concerns were conveyed to interior secretary through letter. Environmental Protection Agency stressed on joint planning and consultation in the letter to CDA member environment.
