Following three mortar shells landed in Landi Kotal main Bazaar on Saturday, the trading center was suspended for all business activities, police officials said.
They said that on Saturday early morning, three mortar shells struck various sites in Landi Kotal Bazaar fired from across the border therefore the decision of closing the bazaar was taken to avoid any untoward incident.
Possible threat from the Afghan regime to target the populous, the markets were suspended to guarantee life security to the civilians, police said.
It is to be stated here that since Thursday night when the Afghan forces launched a massive attack on Pakistani posts at western border from Chitral to Khyber, arm battle has continued between the two forces.
However, from Friday noon, the Afghan regime started targeting the civilian population and a number of mortar shells hit Landi Kotal Bazaar and public offices in Landi Kotal, officials confirmed.
On the other hand, thin rush was witnessed in the Bazaar by this subscribe and only edibles shops remained open to provide food items to the locals in the holy month of Ramadan and the rest of the markets were completely closed.
