PESHAWAR
KP government has decided to run train in Peshawar valley with the cooperation of federal government.
Chief Secretary KP has written a letter to chairman Railways saying it has been agreed to name the proposed train project “ Peshawar Valley Railway.
As per letter government is working on running rail car and diesel multiple units on railway infrastructure.
Ground work has been started on advance physical study of the project.
In the first phase work will be done on 62 kilometer Peshawar -Nowshehra, Jahangira railway section.
It has been said in the letter work will be done on 65 kilometer Nowshehra-Mardan-Dargai railway section in second phase. Work will be done on 27 kilometer Mardan-Charsada section and 18 kilometer Peshawar-Jamrud section. Work will too be done on 60 km Kohat-Jand railway section.
According to letter during the meeting between government and Railways the way and means for enhancing cooperation came under consideration.
It has been requested in the letter Pakistan Railways should nominate technical team for representation in working group.
Secretary transport department said the project will be game changer. The provincial and federal governments will work together for the first time.
