PESHAWAR
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa irrigation department organized an online open court (Khuli Kachehri) on Tuesday at its conference room in Peshawar, aimed at ensuring prompt redressal of public complaints and strengthening direct communication with citizens.
The session was chaired by Secretary Irrigation Abdul Basit, with Chief Engineers and other senior officials present in person, while concerned Executive Engineers (XENs) participated via video link.
Citizens from across the province actively took part by registering their grievances through telephone calls.
During the session, Abdul Basit personally listened to public concerns and gained firsthand insight into the issues faced by residents.
Participants highlighted irrigation-related problems, obstacles in ongoing schemes, and offered suggestions for improvement.
Taking immediate notice of the complaints, the Secretary issued on-the-spot directives to the concerned XENs and officers for prompt resolution. He emphasized that timely addressing of public grievances is a top priority for the department and warned that negligence would not be tolerated.
Abdul Basit said initiatives like online open courts help bridge the gap between the public and the department, while promoting transparency.
He assured that the department’s doors would remain open for citizen complaints and that such initiatives would continue to facilitate the public.
The Secretary also directed officers to demonstrate seriousness in resolving issues at the field level and stressed that, despite limited resources, every possible effort would be made to provide maximum relief to the public.
