THATTA: The administration of Thatta district has decided to launch a four-day blood donation campaign to facilitate Thalassemia patients across the district. According to sources within the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the campaign will begin next Monday and conclude on Thursday. A blood donation camp will be set up at Civil Hospital Thatta where blood will be collected. Addressing a gathering at Darbar Hall Thatta, Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Baghat stated that around 600 patients in Thatta and Sujawal districts are battling Thalassemia, and the blood donation campaign aims to facilitate them. “Due to the unavailability of blood, the parents of these patients face multiple challenges, including taking their children to Karachi almost every week. Besides, the situation for the patients also becomes critical,” he said, adding that it was among his prime responsibilities to assist those in need. He tasked the District Health Officer, Thatta, to supervise the four-day blood camp and urged local citizens to turn up and donate blood for the noble cause.
